Life on the front line ...

LIFE ON THE FRONT LINE OF separation and divorce isn't easy, especially when you had no inkling it was going to happen. It's been over a year now since she left, and the sense of loss and loneliness that goes with it are no easier to deal with.

With no one to talk to you spend a lot of time talking to yourself or, as I do, writing things down. It's a cathartic exercise, amongst other things, and one I now intend to make more public. My reason for doing so is all down to a guy called Ernie Pyle.

Ernie was a US press reporter who served with US and allied soldiers during World War Two. He used to write about those he served with, and the things they experienced on the frontline and elsewhere. His dispatches would be sent back home to the US and they make for great reading. They've certainly helped and inspired me.

Sadly, Ernie was killed on 18th April 1945, but his dispatches live on and, as he did, I'm going to write about my day to day life on the front line of separation and divorce. It might read like an improbable fiction at times, but it's not.
